Whether you consider yourself a Casanova or a temptress in between the sheets, do you really have the strength and stamina to last the distance?
Pilates teacher, Karen Prato reveals how practising Pilates can notch your nookie up a notch or two ...

A good sex life is essential in a long-lasting relationship. Keeping your partner (and yourself) interested and excited at the prospect of the next sexual encounter can be a challenge and requires a lot of energy physically and mentally.
We watch what we eat, workout like crazed animals to get our bodies in peak condition, pound the streets, or stare at a TV screen running on the road to nowhere, all in the name of health, physical fitness and body beautiful.
Then we rush home and crash out, head hits the pillow and game over. Only to do it all again the next day.
But is our forced (and sometimes, hopefully, enjoyable) fitness regime really giving us the body we crave for, or is it simply exhausting all our resources and suppressing something that should not be forced?

Sex – natural, spontaneous, magical. The hardest thing to achieve in life is balance – whether it be food, work, exercise, relationships etc. Therefore we need to choose wisely especially when it comes to exercise.
Finding the right type of exercise for your body can have a dramatic effect in the way you look and feel. There is no point in running 3 times a week just to keep the pounds off.
Tight muscles are inevitably weak and over time will cause imbalances. That awful feeling of stiffness in the spine, struggling just to tie your shoe laces, is certainly not a good look and is going to make you feel ancient even if you are not.

Our posture speaks volumes and tells our life story. A strong flexible body that moves with ease is energy efficient. It shows confidence and can certainly turn heads when walking into a crowded room.
So whether you are in love or looking for love, Pilates can certainly spice up your sex life. Classical Pilates is popular amongst the rich and famous – and if it's good enough for the Beckhams and whatever tricks they get up to in their bedroom, then it's got to be worth a try.
I say it's all about the "spine". Keeping your spine flexible in every direction enables you to stay energised and ready to take on any challenges required in the sack and outside.

Pilates is a movement-based exercise regime that energises the body and refreshes the mind. A clear mind enhances those creative juices which are essential when looking to entice your partner in to experimenting and trying new and exciting ideas.
Pilates movements flow from one to the next, allowing your body to move with ease, gaining strength and flexibility in the body – key to a good active sex life!
Achieving a mind body connection deepens your Pilates practice and is much needed in order to connect on a deeper level with your partner, both physically and mentally.
Pilates requires concentration to take your practice to a deeper level, and an amazing tool transferable in the bedroom, enabling you to be in the moment, being totally present with your partner.

With regular practice of Pilates, at least 3 times a week, you'll notice your body shape has changed and your overall posture improves giving you the confidence to show who's boss in the bedroom.
And both men and women can improve the physical aspect of their sexual function and enjoyment by strengthening those more intrinsic muscles. So what are you waiting for? Get off your mat and jump with vitality and enthusiasm in to bed!
